Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) discipline of Khulna University is one of the leading center in southern part of Bangladesh for teaching-learning and research in the field of communication, media and culture. MCJ discipline is growing place to build up the students with skills, aesthetic sensitivity and knowledge of outer world and to give a thorough understanding of the media and society.The students are participating extra-curriculum activities in every year. There are opportunities to be involved in research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Teachers and students take interest in researching into the areas of media and politics, gender and communication, new communication technologies and media, media and regional journalism and so on. Sometimes distinguished Speakers are also invited to speak on topics of different media interest.

I am delighted to welcome you to the Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) Discipline at Khulna University. We offer a Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) and a Master of Social Science (MSS) in Mass Communication and Journalism. Our goal is to provide an education that seamlessly blends theory with practice, depth with diversity. The curriculum is designed to strengthen critical thinking while fostering innovation, creativity, and productivity. At MCJ, we believe communication is more than the exchange of information—it is a powerful force for connection, transformation, and empowerment. Our programs equip students with a solid grounding in media theory, hands-on experience in journalism, broadcasting, digital media, and public relations, and a strong understanding of the ethical responsibilities of today’s communicators.
