Abstract

A RTIS has been designed based on the SMS technology for Dhaka city, the capital of Bangladesh. To facilitate the system the correct traffic status of different points of Dhaka city should be identified and will be served to the mobile subscribers. The architecture of the system consists of three basic modules: (i) System collection module (ii) System processing module and (iii) System output module. The system collection module is designed by a group of special type of cameras placed at different observation points of Dhaka city those will give digital output data. The system processing module has the basic database associated with an algorithm which will define the traffic status. This status is then delivered by means of some protocolsto the SMSC of the corresponding Cellular Phone Service Provider through ESME. The final stage is the output module which is basically the report of the traffic status that would be delivered to the subscribers by means of SMS.
