BACKGROUND

A Bangladeshi citizen, currently working as a Professor in Electronics and Communication Engineering Discipline, Khulna University, Bangladesh. I have conducted several theoretical/sessional courses for both the Undergraduate and Graduate students in several government/private Universities/ Institutes. Graduate courses include Laser Processing of Materials, Fiber-optic Communication, and Electronics of Solids. Undergraduate courses include Electrical Circuits, Electronic Devices and Circuits, Digital Electronics, Numerical Methods, Industrial Electronics, Digital Communication, Optoelectronic Devices & Optical Communication, Management Information System, and Information Technology. I have advanced research experience in laser processing of transparent, non-transparent, and magnetic materials. In addition, I have research experience in designing and analysis of various photonic devices (Intense Light Beam, LEDs, OLEDs, organic solar cells, and PCFs), passive optical networks (PONs), road traffic information system, and agricultural drones. The current research is focused on photonic devices and mechatronics (drones/robots).

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

   ü  Achieved synchronized femtosecond laser pulse assisted nano-patterning of materials.

ü  Achieved CO2 laser assisted polishing of angled ribbon fiber.

ü  Achieved Cylindrical and Circular micro-lens array on glass fused silica glass surface by means of CO2 laser polishing.

ü  Achieved superhydrophobic soda-lime glass surface by femtosecond laser induced micro/nano-structures.

ü  Fabrication of various micro/nano-metric structures including nano-holes, micro/nano-fluidic channels, self-organized nanogratings, nano-cones, and nano-ripples in glasses (borosilicate glass, soda-lime glass, and fused silica glass) and metals (brass and stainless steel).

ü  Achieved femtosecond laser based metal colorizing by forming periodic micro/nano-structures.

ü  Investigate the interaction of femtosecond laser pulses with various materials including glasses, metals, polymers, sapphire, and magnetic materials.

ü  Developed agricultural drones (plane and copter type).

ü  Proposed one model of hybrid WDM/TDM-PON for the migration to the next generation optical access networks.

ü  Proposed one model for real time road traffic information system.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

ü  Currently I am working for designing various high efficiency photonic devices including intense light beam, light emitting diodes (LEDs), organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), organic solar cells, and photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) by means of various micro/nano-metric structures. In addition, I have collaboration with APRI, GIST, South Korea where we work for laser processing of materials. Furthermore, I am conducting research to develop a large variety of mechatronic devices such as drones and robots.

ü  Being a Post-doctoral researcher since March, 2013 to October, 2013 in GIST, South Korea, I have research experience on femtosecond laser based micro/nano-patterning of various materials including ITO, grapheme, polymer, fused silica glass, and ribbon fiber. The key achievement during this period is various kinds of micro-lens array, multi-layer diffraction gratings, Fresnel zone plate lens, breathable films, and polishing of ribbon fibers & diffraction gratings.

ü  Being a Post-doctoral researcher since February, 2012 to February, 2013 at KAIST, South Korea, I have research experience on femtosecond laser based micro/nano-machining of various materials including glasses, metals, sapphire, magnetic materials, and polymers. The key achievement during this period is femtosecond laser induced superhydrophobic soda-lime glass surface, nanoholes in borosilicate glass, colorizing brass surface by femtosecond laser, and interactions of femtosecond laser pulses with various materials.

ü  As an Assistant Professor in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Discipline, Khulna University, Bangladesh since 2003, I have research experience on CDMA based systems, designing Road Traffic Information System, design and fabrication of Electronic Voting Machine, and analytical modeling of MOSFET.

ü  As a Research Assistant in the Photonics Application Lab of KAIST, South Korea since 2008 to 2012, I have research experience in femtosecond laser based micro/nano-structuring of various materials including glasses, metals, polymers, sapphire, and magnetic materials. The research was also focused on Passive Optical Networks (PONs). The prime achievements during this period are the femtosecond laser induced nano-holes, self-formed nanogratings, nano-cones, nano-ripples, & micro/nano-fluidic channels in soda-lime glass, colorizing stainless steel surfaces by periodic micro/nano-structures,  self-organized nanogratings on various materials; an architecture of a hybrid WDM/TDM-PON is also reported.

   Undergraduate Theses: We conducted the undergraduate thesis under the supervision of Professor Mohammad Ismat Kadir of Electronics and Communications Engineering Discipline, Khulna University, Bangladesh. The title of the thesis was “Design of a Fault Tolerant Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Switch.”
