Welcome to Drawing and Painting Discipline

The undergraduate program in Bachelor of Fine Arts will develop Student’s ability to use their technical, formal, and critical thinking skills in order to explore contemporary issues through visual art and to build their painting skills; learn traditional painting techniques and combine them with the latest digital technologies; and anything else student can imagine. The Program is designed to offer students the widest possible experience in materials and media - drawing, painting, digital media photography & video, ceramics, printmaking, sculptural studies, visual literacy, digital media and installation art to produce meaningful work that responds to our complex and changing world. Contemporary and historical art practices are examined through a series of lectures, seminars and written assignments. As students’ progress through the course, there is an increasing emphasis on individual research and outcomes. External engagements include a regular visiting artist lecture series and national and international study trips. Students have opportunities to engage with collaborative curetting projects with local and national art institutions. This program also intended for students who wish to acquire a thorough knowledge of studio art as part of their general education and for those who wish to prepare for work leading to graduate degree in art. The BFA degree requires 140credit units (four years). The program responds to the demands of the contemporary global art world and encourages Students to engage in current practice by exploring themes such as art activism. Skills in employability and professional practice will prepare them for working as a fine artist or to launch a career in the wider creative industries.

Drawing and Painting discipline offers a cooperative learning environment with wonderful faculty and studios for developing artistic knowledge in a variety of media and technique. The Drawing and Painting program both Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) & Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) will develop student’s ability to use their skills in order to explore contemporary issues through visual art, build their painting skills, exposes students to a full range of aesthetic and intellectual pedagogy. Drawing incorporates materials and explore gesture, mark making, the construction of visual space, as well as symbol and story telling. In Painting classes, you will explore colour use, paint application, tools and techniques along with the formal language of painting and its use in abstract, figurative and hybrid/expanded modes. As active professional artists engaged at both an international and local level, our faculty bring insight into the exciting and complex world of art. Students will gain the ability to think creatively and cintically and to materialized ideas in visual form.
