The Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) program offered by the Pharmacy Discipline at Khulna University is one of the leading and prestigious B. Pharm. degrees in Bangladesh. As a developing country, Bangladesh needs to maintain its progress in the pharmaceutical sector for the well-being of its population. The program is designed to produce pharmacists with expertise in pharmaceutical sciences, including drug discovery, development, manufacturing as well as patient care and community health. This undergraduate program runs over 4 years divided into 8 terms (2 terms/year). During the first and second year, the students will learn the introductory courses, e.g. pharmacognosy, organic chemistry, physiology and microbiology. The last two years consists of core pharmacy subjects, like pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, biopharmaceutics, biomolecular pharmacy as well as hospital, industry and research training. Apart from that, the students will learn some general education courses, which includes sociology, economics, regulatory affairs, statistics, marketing and management etc., to competently serve the community. Upon completion of this program the students will gain advanced knowledge of pharmaceutical and molecular biological techniques and will be able to perform in the field of drug discovery, and design, synthesis, and formulation. The degree is accredited and recognised as ‘A’ grade pharmacy program by Bangladesh Pharmacy Council (BPC).
