News Reading and Watching Habits of Residential Students of Khulna University

News reading and watching habit is generally an intellectual activity of learning new things, developing new ideas and it provides a sense of completeness. Mass media are a wonder of modern science it carries news and views of home and abroad to us. The study aimed to know the news reading and watching habits of the residential students of Khulna university. A total number of 225 questionnaires were administrated to the students and 200 were received.  The response rate was 89 percent. From the analysis, it is discovered that majority of the respondents read or watch the news sometimes. The study demonstrates most of the residential students read and watch the news in both Bengali and English language. The study makes evident that highest number of the respondents like reading the Daily Prothom Alo and watching the Somoy TV. Moreover, the research reveals that international and political section of the news are the most preferred section. This paper also shows a greater number of respondents prefers hall library to read printed newspaper. The study finds that online media is the suitable at the digital age and the respondents spend less than one hour on an average as per day for reading and watching the news.
