Mapping Bi-Directional Ecosystem Services of Nature-Based Solutions: A Case Study of Coastal Forests In Bangladesh

The objective of the project is to assess and map ecosystem services and services to ecosystem of the coastal forests in Meghna estuaries. The study will evaluate the “Services to ecosystem” for the first time in Bangladesh to apprehend how the locals can reciprocate with the ecosystem to the needs of the lands, waters, and species. The outcome will identify and suggest potential avenues to ensure people’s participation in afforestation and restoration activities to build resilient green belt in coastal Bangladesh. Another objective is to map overall ES for practitioners of the coastal forests in Bangladesh. The robustness will be achieved by using open-access software with free high-resolution satellite data and ensuring data availability for further analysis and monitoring.

The Project is funded by Sustainable Forests and Livelihoods (SUFAL) Project of Bangladesh Forest Department (BFD). It is implemented by International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD).
