Dr. S. M. Feroz
Professor

Dr. S. M. Feroz is a professor at Forestry and Wood Technology Discipline in Khulna University, Bangladesh. He received his Ph.D (2007) and MS (2003) in Forest Ecology, major in Forest Structure and Biodiversity from University of the Ryukyus, Japan. During the research time he established a mathematical model for identifying vertical stand stratification and later he successfully applied the model in several subtropical and tropical mixed natural forests in Japan, China and Bangladesh. He obtained his B.Sc. (Honors) degree in Forestry and Wood Technology from Khulna University. He carried out his first postdoctoral research (2007-2009) at University of the Ryukyus, Japan and second postdoctoral research (2013-2014) at University of Goettingen, Germany in the field of Forest Structure and Biodiversity in the Sundarbans. Dr. Feroz has successfully completed different research projects funded by Khulna University research cell, Ministry of Science and Technology, European Union (Biodiversity Study (Flora) in the Sundarbans under SEALS project), Erasmus Mundus Action II (European Commission). Currently he has been conducting two research projects on i) mangrove health and biodiversity indexes mapping in coastal areas of Bangladesh funded by World Bank (SUFAL project) and ii) biodiversity in stratified forest stand in the Sundarbans funded by Khulna University Research Cell. He has published a significant number of peer reviewed articles from international journals and several conference papers. His research interest focuses on forest structure, species composition, forest biodiversity, forest carbon assessment, etc.
