Worked as a Programme Officer from 18 July 2001 to 20 August 2002 in IUCN (The World Conservation Union) Bangladesh Country Office; particularly was responsible to Coordinate the activities of Bangladesh Wetlands Network that was setup to influence its members to i) Conserve and restore wetlands biodiversity, ii) Rehabilitate and degraded or abandoned wetland areas, iii)  Ensure equitable access of the community to the wetland resources, (iv)Identify indicators for different areas to monitor the changes in health of the ecosystem, v) Identify gaps and conflicts in different sectoral policies, especially land use policy in terms of conservation of Wetlands and fisheries resources and vi) Develop policy guidelines on different environmental issues of wetlands.

Organized a two day Conference on Wetlands: People, Land, Water and Fish; Organized dialogues on Shrimp fry collection and Kash jalmahal leasing system.

Prepared an Annotated bibliography on Wetlands and their resources and a draft policy paper on the Kash jalmahal leasing system to ensure sustainable management of jalmahals including rivers/ flowing water and recognize access of the poor.

Experienced as a "Technician" in National Conservation Strategy Implementation Project-1 (NCSIP-1) Survey of Flora, operated by the National Herbarium [Finance by Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh] from June, 1996 to November, 1997 studies on Chalan Beel in the areas of physico-chemical and biological conditions of the wetlands ecosystem, which helped in the preparation of the final report on the project work.

3.      Worked on the Livelihoods patter of medicinal plants producers and traders.


IN KHULNA UNIVERSITY 

A.   Three papers on the medicinal plants have presented in the Third international Botanical Conference (December 05); Conference of Bangladesh Taxonomical Society (March 05) and a National Seminar on Medicinal Plants (December 05).

 Titles of the papers:

1.    Studies on the Herbs and Shrubs medicinal Plants of Khulna. (Published in the Proceeding of this Conf.).

2.    Studies on the cultivation of Andographis paniculata , Abroma augusta and Datura metel.

3.    The medicinal values of some aquatic plants of Bangladesh.

B.   A medicinal plants (Herbs and Shrubs) garden has been established in front of Chatra Hall of Khulna University

1.    About 30 species of medicinal herbs and shrubs plants have been planted inside the garden.

2.     These plants have been collected in wild condition from Khulna and Jessore districts.

C.   Worked on the purpose and part of use of the medicinal plants through interviewing of Kabiraj and local people.

D.   Supervised three (02) students, who have been done research on the primary information and cultivation of the medicinal plants for their undergraduate thesis.

E.   Displayed different medicinal plants and their purpose of uses in the Annual Plant Exhibition-2004 at Hadis park, Khulna with collaboration of ‘Khulna Ayurvedic College’.

F.    An article- Veshoj Samporke Kichu katha, was published by ‘Khulna Ayurvedic College’ in their book- Veshoj o Bigan.
