INFLUENCE OF SALINE WATER AND PHOSPHORUS ON SESAME YIELD AND NUTRIENT UPTAKE IN A SALINE SOIL

This study was carried out to evaluate the influence of salinity at different P levels on yield and P, K, S and Na uptake of sesame in a saline soil. The experiments showed that the effects of salinity at different P levels yield and nutrient uptake were statistically significant. The yield and nutrient uptake of sesame was decreased gradually with the increasing salinity treatment in the same P treatment. On the contrary the yield and nutrient uptake of sesame was increased gradually with the increasing P treatment in the same salinity treatment. As sesame is the dominant crops in this coastal region, if it is possible to reduce the salinity then farmers can be benefitted by cultivating this oilseeds crops.
