Rice (Oryza Sativa L.) Growth, Yield and Nutrient Uptake as Influenced by Different Silicon and Phosphorus Levels in a Saline Soi

Increasing the levels of phosphorus significantly increased the number of tillers hill-1, the number of filled grain panicle-1, the number of total grains hill-1, the grain yield kg ha-1, and the biological yield t ha-1. On the other hand, the number of unfilled grains decreases with increasing phosphorus levels in the soil. The single effect of increasing silicon was detected significantly on unfilled grain panicle-1, grain yield t ha-1, and biological yield t ha-1. The number of unfilled grains reduced with increasing silicon. On the other hand, grain yield and biological yield increased with increasing silicon. Silicon and phosphorous significantly affected major nutrient uptake as well, either positively or negatively. N, P, K, S uptake was positively influenced by increasing phosphorous. On the other hand, no effect of phosphorous on Fe uptake was recorded throughout the experiment. Apart from that, silicon had a positive impact on N, P, and K uptake, but it didn’t influence S. On the other hand, some random effect of silicon was recorded on Fe uptake
