Effect of blood meal on growth, yield and nutrient uptake of mung bean (Vigna radiata L.)

A study is carried out to evaluate blood meal as an organic source of nitrogen in soil by producing and characterizing blood meal and comparing performances of its different doses with recommended doses of inorganic fertilizer in promoting (Vigna radiata L.) growth, yield, nitrogen uptake and nitrogen utilization efficiency. Characterization of blood meal study concluded that conventional method was significantly superior to other treatments in respect to Nutrient uptake. Evaluation study of different treatments on growth and yield of mung bean figured out that BM treatments produced higher grain and fresh yield comparatively. Nitrogen uptake by (Vigna radiata L.) in response to applied treatments pointed out that NPK and BM do not significantly increase nitrogen uptake. Results of this study suggests that NPK and BM treatments have significant influence in phosphorus and potassium uptake whereas no significant influence in nitrogen uptake and growth parameters.
