Assessment of Nitrate Pollution in Groundwater of Khulna City

Nitrate pollution occurs in surface water, which leaches into the soil and then into the groundwater supply from a variety of sources. Irrigation water that containing fertilizer is a common offender, as are septic systems, wastewater treatment facilities, dairies, and natural circumstances. Nowadays it is becoming the biggest issue for human and other organism. Human are suffering from many diseases like methemoglobinemia, cardiovascular disease, lung disease, headaches, stomach cramps, vomiting etc. by taking nitrate polluted water.

The objectives of this research are to assess the nitrate concentration in ground water and to generate a spatial map of the nitrate polluted areas in Khulna city

By this research Nitrate pollution level of Khulna city will be identified. Polluted sources of drinking water will be detected. Thus, people who are living nearby the nitrate polluted groundwater area would be able to avoid the contaminated sources of drinking water.
