Dr. Tunvir Ahamed Shohel is a Professor of Sociology Discipline at Khulna University, Bangladesh. He joined Khulna University as a Lecturer on November 03, 2009.  His work draws an attention on and contributes to the study of culture and gender on development initiatives such as financial inclusion (e.g., microfinance) targeting women in developing countries, specifically on Bangladesh.

Dr. Shohel holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Monash University, Australia, a MA (Mgr.) degree in Sociology from Masaryk University, Czech Republic, and MSS and BSS degree in Sociology from Khulna University, Bangladesh. Dr. Shohel’s research work and publications deploy the knowledge of sociology to address issues relevant to social inequalities and gender. His additional research expertise covers areas such as climate change vulnerabilities of the indigenous communities living in the coastal regions, social perception, and recognition of mental health issues. However, culture remains as his root of analytical frame for research.
