Abstract
This article explores the experiences and attitudes of teachers regarding computer assisted English
language learning (CAELL) at Social Science School, Khulna University, Bangladesh. Teaching or
learning a language using computer emerges as a new approach especially for the advancement of
information technology. Teachers’ attitude and experience is a matter of concern for this paradigm shift.
Following a mixed method, this study was conducted though a multi-stage random sampling strategy and
data were collected through a questionnaire survey where 9 teachers took part and an interview strategy
where 2 teachers responded. The collected data were computed, analyzed and tabulated by using the
Stata. The theoretical framework of the study was based on the interaction account of SLA. The findings
of the study show that teachers have positive attitudes towards CAELL but their experiences are neither
positive nor negative, rather neutral. This study also unfolds that teachers face challenges like availability
of materials and resources; facilities of language lab and multimedia classrooms; uninterrupted electricity
and internet connections and arrangement of trainings and workshops. Accordingly, this study
recommends the inclusions of some facilities to the teachers conducting classes on English for Academic
Purposes at Social Science School, KU, such as training sessions, workshops, lab facilities, internet
facilities, multimedia classrooms, digital resources and audio-visual materials.
