An Eco-critical Study of The Hungry Tide by Amitav Ghosh

This project aims at explicating Amitav Ghosh’s environmental issues regarding the Sundarbans in The Hungry Tide. For the analysis of this study, the eco-critical concept of Cheryll Glotfelty's is used. This study finds that the relationship between nature and human beings plays an important role in a tide country. Both natural and human made environment influence our life styles. But human being’s brutality and carelessness is creating the mannature conflict. As a result, people like Horen, Fokir, Kusum and Moyna fall victim to nature’s violence. The findings also demonstrate that ecological imbalance is the reason behind natural disasters. Moreover, this study focuses on the government’s indifference towards the global crisis.
