In the pre-partitioned India, religious diversity hardly created any discord between the people. Harmonious living was a reality in Khuswant Singh’s fictional village Mano Majra in Train To Pakistan. But once the news of partition related riots emerges, uneasiness slowly creeps into the village as well. The reality was distorted by means of manipulating religious sentiment. The research objective of Sabarul Baser, in this project was to explore how religious manipulation affects the harmonious living of the people in Train to Pakistan and to explore how religion becomes an important tool of political manipulation by the dominant class.
