Investigation on Antioxidant Properties of different extracts of Crataegus monogyna

Crataegus monogyna (CM) trees are used in herbal, homeopathy, and traditional medicine. In this study, the antioxidant activities of different extracts of CM were investigated by in vitro assay. A hydrogen peroxide radical scavenging assay was used to evaluate the antioxidant activities and it found that the water-soluble fraction has a higher antioxidant activity than the n-hexane and ethanol fraction. The higher activity of the water-soluble fraction creates the pathway to use the CM as a natural antioxidant in various fields.
