Chemistry Discipline of Khulna University has started the journey in 2009 to keep in mind of carrying out quality base education and research in the field of Chemistry. The academic activities have begun in Syed Nazrul Islam administration building of Khulna University. Later on, the discipline has been shifted to Kobi  Jibanananda Das academic building. From the academic session 2014-2015, the Discipline has introduced MS program.

Our discipline has a tradition of carrying out high-quality research in several areas of Chemistry. Researches in the areas like - Natural Product Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, Coordination Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Colloid and Surface Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry are performed by our faculty members successfully. Collaborative research activities are also going on with intra-discipline and inter-discipline faculty members of this university and research institutes in Bangladesh and abroad.

The discipline is quite well-equipped with several sophisticated instruments for research. Four laboratories (Organic, Inorganic, Physical and Analytical) are available to conduct the research.

Our faculty members are highly recognized for their contribution in academics. In recent years, several members of our discipline have published various research articles in well-known journal.
