Biogenic Synthesis of Ag@ZnO Nanocomposites using Piper chaba stem extract and its Applications towards Catalysis

Coprecipitation techniques were used to successfully and quickly synthesize ZnO@Ag

NCs using an aqueous stem extract of Piper chaba through a green approach. A

significant adsorption band at 376 nm confirms the formation of ZnO@Ag NCs

formation. The parameters affecting the synthesis of ZnO@Ag NCs (i.e., temperature,

the concentration of AgNO3, quantity of plant extract, and reaction time) were studied. The

catalytic activity of the green-synthesized ZnO@Ag NCs was confirmed when used for

a rapid reduction of 4-NP and degradation of MB and MO in the presence of NaBH 4.

This successful synthesis and catalytic applications of the green-synthesized ZnO@Ag

NCs suggest the potential of using this method as an alternative to the chemical

methods in large-scale synthesis, other applications such as electronics, and fabrication

of other nanoparticles. The availability, cost-effectiveness when compared to other plant

sources, and edible qualities of Piper chaba are noteworthy advances in this work.
