Despite increasing scientific attention, substantial knowledge gaps remain regarding the comparative, multi-city evolution of ambient air quality in Bangladesh over extended periods. Existing national studies have often focused on single cities or at most pairs such as Dhaka and Rajshahi. Limited temporal coverage and restricted integration of meteorological drivers (Majumder et al., 2025). International research demonstrates that multi-city, spatially explicit analyses combining ground observations, remote sensing and meteorological data can reveal pollution sources, dispersion patterns and exposure hotspots with far greater clarity. There by supporting more nuanced, location-specific interventions (Jumaah et al., 2023). Accordingly, a comparative spatio-temporal analysis of ambient air quality in major cities of Bangladesh for the period 2013–2025, explicitly considering key meteorological factors such as wind speed and temperature, is both timely and necessary.
