SPRAWLING BENEFITS IN THE DHAKA CITY REGION

There is scant literature on the modeling and characterization of urban sprawl in
developing countries. Recognized as a complicated phenomenon, sprawl should be
contextually considered. The study of this phenomenon in different socioeconomic
contexts determines its features and helps to provide a better understanding of urban
sprawl planning to address its negative consequences based on various social,
historical, cultural, and economic conditions. The publications on urban sprawl and its
relationship with urban mobility usually come from high-income countries. Hence,
the experiences and strategies of Western countries with high income and different
cultural, geographical, and social conditions have been accepted and applied to
emerging countries to tackle problems of urban sprawl.

A research question is a question that a study or research initiative seeks to answer. This question frequently addresses an issue or a problem, to which the conclusion of the research provides a response through data analysis and interpretation. Based on the objectives the questions that this research tries to find out are-  Who are these sprawlers? • Why is urban sprawl beneficial? • What are the contexts based on which people are living in these sprawled areas?
