Barriers to Creating Walkable Neighborhoods in Khulna

Walking is super important in Nirala residential area because it brings lots of good things.
First, it helps save money because people don't need to spend much on transportation.
Second, walking makes people friends with their neighbors, creating a strong community.
Third, it keeps the area beautiful and saves energy, which is good for the environment. In
smaller cities like Khulna, where people walk more, life can be healthier, businesses can
do better, and everyone can enjoy a more convenient lifestyle. The study shows that good sidewalks are crucial for safe walking. The sidewalk problem is directly affecting
walkability which refers to the inadequate or poor quality of pedestrian infrastructure, such as sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, and streetlights etc., Like many other cities, Khulna city’s sidewalks are poorly maintained, inaccessible, and unsafe, making it difficult for residents to walk for transportation or recreation. Also, sidewalks are not well-kept, making it hard for people to walk safely. The study suggests that improving walkability in Khulna, by fixing sidewalks and involving the community, can make life better for everyone. The study explores walkability in a planned residential area in Khulna, offering insights for policymakers to enhance pedestrian-friendly environments for creating walkable neighborhoods.
