In this study we have focused on socio-economic condition of the rural people who are involved in shrimp cultivation. We have chosen dumuria Thana of Khulna district to collect data from 100 samples of the total population related to shrimp cultivation. We have used purposive sampling with a questionnaire. From the study we have found that about 95% people involved in shrimp cultivation have been benefitted from their business About 90% respondents of the population have represented that they could maintain the expenses of education, family management, maintaining moderate livelihood and many other aspects of their lives. Only a few people (10%) have said that they can not maintain their family well because of either the size of their gher is small or lack of systematic cultivation. They cultivated two types of shrimp such as Golda in sweat water, Bagda in salty water or both in brackish water. Their ultimate goal was to collect foreign currency regarding of different types of shrimps. Exporting shrimp they earned a lot of foreign currency. Through which they were able to change lives patterns.
In this study their changing patterns of the whole life has been discussed how they have changed their real condition, their present situation also have been discussed in this study. Their economic, educational, social, cultural and political pattern of whole life has been discussed. What types of shrimp is more profitable and the adjustment to the Gher environment has also been discussed. So, from the study it can be said that shrimp cultivation is a profitable business that ensure the socio-economic as well as cultural, religious and political development of rural people.
