Diasphoric History of South Asia: a case study on Rohinga People

The study was conducted on the diasphoric history of South Asia: A case study on Rohiyanga people and the main objective of the study is to provide a platform to have an open and in-depth knowledge of views on the emergent Rohingya crisis in Bangladesh. The study was conducted through the content analysis Different official's documents from the government and from donors, research report, NGOs studies and journal and newspaper articles formed the basic sources of information Bangladesh saw Rohiyanga influxes as a humanitarian crisis, and arranged temporary shelters and other supports for the refugees. In the initial refugee influxes, tripartite talks between the governments of Bangladesh and Myanmar and the UN led to the majority being repatriated, but in later years most stayed in Bangladesh Before the current crisis an estimated 200,000-400,000 Rohingya refugees were already living in Bangladesh. India's 'disregarding the Rohingyas" plight' is fuelling not just anti-India feelings within Bangladesh but also Islamist rhetoric. On the other hand, it is affecting other regional initiatives. Sheikh Hasina used a speech to BIMSTEC, ostensibly a platform for economic cooperation, to highlight the challenges faced by Bangladesh in relation to the Rohingya refugee influx. The government also called on humanitarian aid from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for those refugees. Around 20 refugee camps were built up in Cox's Bazar and Bandarban districts in September 1991 in order to accommodate the Rohingya refugees. Though Bangladesh initially adopted liberal policies towards the Rohingya refugees such soft stance changed over the years. The Malaysian Government only provided minimum humanitarian assistance to those refugees who were recognized by the UNHCR The Malaysian police detained some 500 Rohingya Muslims. The Rohingyas, who fled to Malaysia after 2012. Thailand had continued a policy that was less than favorable to the Rohingyas. They also intercepted and pushed back thousands more Rohingyas out to sea. Bangladesh is facing new challenges having humanitarian, diplomatic and security dimensions. With the current massive outflow of Rohingyas into Bangladesh is one of the most complex security and humanitarian situations that Bangladesh has ever faced. We need a firm and united standpoint to face the crisis.
