Bangladesh is a disaster affected country. Every year Bangladesh faces many natural disasters. Politics has become a great challenge of disaster management in the disaster prone area of Bangladesh. Shoutherkhali union of Dacope upazila in Khulna district the study area in coastal Bangladesh is affected by disaster politics cause unplanned process of disaster management. Evidently, poor people are most vulnerable during disaster. Political instability creates management system more critical during disaster in the developing countries like Bangladesh. People do not get proper support from local government. This situation also effects on social condition. It also critically analyzes the role of the government of Bangladesh and the NGOs for amelioration of their vulnerable situation. This study exhibits qualitative in nature. A qualitative research based on Case study, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), Key Informants Interview (KII) methods were applied to gain vital information and an in-depth understanding In this study the sample size was 26 and four case studies, two FGDs and two KII were conducted. The study depicts existence vulnerabilities of disaster affected people. For the purpose of study significant variables have been considered ie engaged in politics; getting relief, nepotism tendency, and reconstruction process in study areas. This study explains effect of politics on disaster management in Dacope Upazila, Khulha and reveals poor people are mostly susceptible by affecting disaster politics for their livelihood. Government and policy makers should take effective interventions to overcome harsh conditions in considering the real field situation.
