Residential Arrangements for the students of Khulna University and the impacts on their academic sector

Students who live on campus deal with poor living conditions, being apart from their families and homes, the pressure of their studies, an odd schedule, and a lack of readily accessible guidance. Their general health deteriorates. This study aimed at analyzing the relation between residential arrangements and academic performances of residential students of Khulna University. The study was qualitative in nature and used case study and focus group discussions as tools of data collection. In order to conduct the study and gather information about residential students' diverse experiences, a total of 25 participants were purposefully chosen. Seven respondents participated in case studies, and eighteen respondents were preferred for two focus group discussions where a checklist was used to gather information. Findings of the study revealed that majority of students were dissatisfied with the residential circumstances. They said that they were not in good health, and that the lack of adequate space in housing arrangements such common rooms and semi-blocks has a bad impact on residential students' academic performance Hall staffs who were not attentive to the issues of the students. Students had a lot of difficulty obtaining accommodations. There were far fewer seats than were required. They frequently deal with the seat politics of the hall authority Residences were essential for a student to live, learn, and stay. It demanded recognition and was required to be comprehended. The study suggests that the authorities of the hall need to handle student issues more responsibly and with greater sincerity in order to meet their basic demands, quickly close the hall's common room and semi block system in order to increase the number of seats. The management of the hall should place greater emphasis on the basic needs and internal issues of the students than on the improvement of the hall's infrastructure
