It is a privilege to welcome you to the Law Discipline at Khulna University.Since our establishment in late 2016 as the core academic unit of the School of Law, the Discipline has worked to reshape legal education in southwestern Bangladesh. Legal teaching in this century cannot rest on the recitation of statutes and precedents. In a period defined by globalisation, ecological vulnerability, technological change and sharp socioeconomic shifts, the legal mind must be agile, analytical and alert to inequity. We have built an academic culture here that asks for intellectual sharpness and moral responsibility in equal measure. Our students study on a politically neutral campus free of session delays, which means their academic journey proceeds without interruption. As the institution that introduced Outcome-Based Education in Bangladesh, Khulna University holds its programs to measurable standards. Ours is aligned with Level 7 of the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework, and every student is expected to demonstrate competence in critical thinking, negotiation, statutory analysis and legal writing. Our approach is deliberately practical, because legal scholarship of any worth depends on immersion. Through the Khulna University Moot Court Society, clinical legal literacy workshops and court attachments, students develop advocacy skills well before they enter the profession. The mandatory undergraduate dissertation does similar work for research. It asks students to identify gaps in the law, propose remedies, and produce scholarship of publishable quality. Our faculty bring expertise across constitutional law, international human rights, environmental and water governance, maritime law, commercial arbitration and criminal jurisprudence. Their commitment extends beyond the classroom to sustained mentorship, whether a student is preparing for the Bar Council examination or applying to postgraduate programs abroad. To prospective students: joining the Law Discipline means joining a close and ambitious community that will ask you to think courageously, argue carefully and act with integrity.
