Factors Affecting Household Well-being of the Environmental Migrants: A Comparative Study between Rural and Urban Areas in Southwestern Coastal Bangladesh

Bangladesh is particularly vulnerable to disasters and changes in climatic patterns, making environmental migration a critical concern. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting the household well-being between rural and urban coastal areas. Four hundred eight households who migrated from elsewhere due to extreme climatic events were selected as study samples using a systematic random sampling method. Different graphs, charts, and tables were used to depict the difference between urban and rural dwellers. Ordinary least square (OLS) regression was used to investigate the factors affecting the household well-being between rural and urban coastal areas. The study's finding reveals that urban dwellers have lower household well-being score than that of rural dwellers. According to the study's findings, different kinds of supports such as health care, financial support, Social safety nets and education support affect household well-being positively.
