Determinants of Household Well-being Heterogeneity: A study in Disaster-prone Southwest Coastal Bangladesh

The coastal lowlands of Bangladesh are highly susceptible to natural calamities. When faced with the same danger, some human actions are more impacted than others. In this research, we analyze the repercussions of hazard-induced disasters on individuals' access profile and access qualification with the help of OLS regression model. The data was gathered through the use of household surveys, focus group discussions, and interviews with key individuals in the districts of  Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, and Barguna in Bangladesh. The examination illustrated in this research is founded on the theoretical framework supporting the access model. The results show that addressing key determinants such as education, economic diversification, infrastructure development, and social support networks, stakeholders can work towards fostering adaptive capacity and enhancing the overall well-being of vulnerable populations in the face of disasters. The research results have the potential to guide competent government entities in creating suitable flood control strategies by providing access to necessary household resources for sustenance.
