Understanding the complexities of water governance is essential for addressing fair distribution, efficient use, and effective management of water resources. The main purpose of this study was to explore the factors affecting the degree of water governance at the household level and how water governance affected household well-being. Using a multi-stage sampling method, data was collected from 411 households. Statistical techniques such as t-test, ordinary least squares (OLS), and binary logistic regression models were employed to estimate the findings. The result indicates that year of residency, the total cost of drinking water, satisfaction with water quality, community involvement, water-related issues, coordination among policy makers, livelihood, and group membership significantly affect water governance. It was also revealed that water governance, household size, income source, year of residency, drinking water source distance, satisfaction with water quality, unsafe water, sanitation facility, and group membership significantly affect respondents’ well-being.
