Assessing Urban Resilience for Disaster Resilient City Planning: A Study on Khulna City

The aim of this research is to measure level of urban resilience very specifically and observe the spatial variation of resilience across the city. For better understanding about urban resilience, objective measurement approach MRI is adopted from MPI. It was applied to generate composite scores of resilience and to facilitate comparison at ward level. Hence, The MRI is quantified with 70 parameters of resilience. Thus, a weighting method has been deployed to take all of them into account. The weight assignment to resilience parameters has been done by applying AHP method. This paper explores the real context of resilience issue, level of urban resilience, components and indicators’ contribution to resilience that may vary at different scales across the city. Hence, ward level studies are done based on the survey results of the sampled HHs of that particular ward.
