Livelihood Adaptation of Rural Coastal People in Bangladesh after Cyclone: An Asset-Based Analysis, Khulna University Research Cell funded project

The research project explores the ways in which the coastal poor people located in the southwest of Bangladesh perceive and encounter climate variability and change and climate related shocks in their everyday lives. It attempts to examine climate related vulnerability that coastal poor people face in their everyday lives and also explore coping and adaptation strategies to reduce climate related vulnerabilities. The research uses asset-based framework to explain factors that shape differentiated vulnerability and adaptive capacity among different poor groups. It also explores the factors that make vulnerability and adaptive capacity different within different geographical locations. Additionally, this research assesses to what extent livelihood adaptation strategies and development interventions are climate compatible. Major responsibilities of this research project included designing research, coordinating field survey, developing database, analysing data, writing reports, presenting research findings in the seminars or conferences, and writing journal articles.
