Situational Analysis of New Rural Sponsorship Programme (Gaibandha Impact Area)

The aim of the research is to understand child development and protection in view of institutional and organisational arrangements. The situational analysis adopted qualitative research design for exploring and understanding the meaning individuals or groups ascribe to a social or human problem. Several qualitive data collection methods such as in-depth interviews, key informant interviews, focus group discussion, and knowledge sharing workshop at local level. Information gathered from household interviews and transcripts from key informants’ surveys and focus group discussions, and researchers’ field notes were organised under themes and nodes. Based on multimodal data sources, a situational analysis was performed that produced ‘Disordered Situational Map’ followed by ‘Ordered Situational Map’ highlighting both the human elements/actors and the nonhuman elements related to child and adolescent development programme. Besides, both ‘Relational Map’ and ‘Positional Map’ were developed using the ‘Situational Maps,’ to exemplify the narrative discourses and the visual discourses related to early childhood care and development. This research used NVivo software to analyse qualitative data collected from interviews and group discussions, which helped to implement iterative qualitative data analysis process.
