The aim of the research is to understand the impact of COVID-19 on the Sundarbans and forest-dependent
communities living around the Sundarbans. Additionally, it also evaluates the
effectiveness of the mitigation measures adopted by the GIZ in reducing social,
economic, political, and environmental disruptions associated with the COVID-19
pandemic. To do so, I adopted a qualitative approach to
comprehensively analyse the impact of COVID 19 outbreaks and lockdown on forest
resource-dependent communities living around the Sundarbans.
