Coal-based thermal power plant at Rampal has created national controversies because
of its close proximity to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Sundarbans. Much
of the discussions are concentrated around its impact on the biodiversity of
the Sundarbans. However, nobody is talking about its impact on the people
living close to the project site. In
this paper, the Gaussian atmospheric dispersion model is developed for Sulphur Dioxide
(SO2) to delineate its impact zone.
Furthermore, different scenarios are built for different stack height.
