This study focuses on the rights of female shrimp workers in Khulna's
shrimp industries. Using a qualitative approach with FGDs, KIIs, and IDIs, it
examines the implementation of the Bangladesh Labor Act 2006 and ILO
provisions. The study finds violations of labor laws due to poor monitoring,
lack of awareness, reduced shrimp cultivation and exports, and limited training
programs. Key recommendations include better law compliance, awareness
campaigns, training initiatives, fair work hours and pay, increased female recruitment
in leadership, and effective dispute resolution. These steps aim to protect
female shrimp workers’ rights and benefit the industry and society.
