The Efficiency of the Pornography Control Act, 2012 in fighting against the Global Pornography Industry

Bangladesh is also the largest market for consuming pornographic contents in the world. We have various provisions in The Penal Code, 1860, Information & Communication Technology Act, 2006, Draft Cyber Security Act, 2015 that prohibits the publications of pornography. Bangladesh enacted a uniform special law named the Pornography Control Act, 2012 for preventing the pornography problems. The preamble of the Act aims that the act is enacted to control pornography to prevent the degradation of ethical and social value. About 10 years have passed but the Act is yet to be implemented. People can easily get access to pornographic contents. The government haven taken various measures but it is not enough to make a barrier to the availability of global pornography. In this study, I discussed about the efficiency of this Act and proposed recommendations to make the Act effective.
