Women in STEM Higher Education in Bangladesh: Examining Patterns and Barriers to Participation in Engineering Disciplines

This thesis investigates the participation of women in STEM higher education in Bangladesh, with a particular focus on engineering disciplines. Using q qualitative research methods, the study examines enrollment trends, socio-cultural barriers, institutional challenges, and factors influencing women’s persistence and success in engineering programs. The findings provide insights for educators, policymakers, and institutions to design strategies that promote gender equity, encourage female participation, and foster inclusive STEM education in Bangladesh.
