This thesis explores the social, cultural, and familial factors that contribute to parental reluctance in supporting female students’ access to higher education in Bangladesh. Using qualitative interviews with parents and female students, the study examines attitudes, gender norms, and perceived risks that influence educational decision-making. The findings highlight the structural and cultural barriers limiting women’s academic opportunities and provide insights for policymakers and educators seeking to promote gender equity in higher education.
