Impact of salinity change on the rate of oxygen consumption, gill ultra-structure and expression pattern of candidate gene in the tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon)

Undergraduate (Honors) Thesis: Salinity is a major factor for the distribution and overall biological changes of a species. The black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) is a euryhaline species, can tolerate a wide range of environmental salinity levels and also it represents a major coastal aquaculture species. This thesis evaluated the salinity induced changes in cellular (gill ultra-structure), physiological (growth and rate of O2 consumption) and genetic (expression of an osmotic stress response gene, Integrin) levels in the Penaeus monodon.
