Continental Effect on the Genetic Diversity of Freshwater Goby (Glossogobius giuris)

M. Sc. Thesis: Freshwater goby (Glossogobius giuris) is one of the primitive fishes, evolved approximately 20 million years ago (MYA). Due to Gondwana land breakdown (~15 MYA), many species radiated to different countries and countries. The freshwater goby is such kind of fish that underwent for rapid adaptive radiations. As such, this fish is now a native fish to 26 different countries across Asia, Australia and Pacific Island countries. Although freshwater goby is considered as a single species across its entire distribution range, it has gained habitat/continent specific differential phenotypic traits. This thesis aims to investigate continent specific genetic diversity assay by applying next generation sequencing (NGS) based genotyping technique.
