Salinity Induced Biochemical Alterations in Giant Freshwater Prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii)

Masters Thesis: Changes in environmental salinity levels have profound influence on the behavioral, physiological and biochemical (overall biological) aspects of aquatic organisms including crustaceans. As a result, responses from all biological aspects are mandatory for organismal survival and persistence. The current study was conducted to investigate the effects of different experimental salinity levels on the biochemical (free amino acids, free fatty acids, glucose and serotonin hormone levels) and genetic (expression pattern of a hemolymph regulatory gene) changes in the giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii).
