Synergistic impact of minerals nutrition and probiotics in shrimp culture: A tale of strategy for scaling down in production cost

Shrimp farming is crucial in the coastal area of Bangladesh, significantly benefiting the economy, creating jobs, and fostering the development of the area. Minerals and Probiotics are critical components in shrimp aquaculture, particularly in commercial operations where their effective management is critical for shrimp growth and health. Farmers in the coastal area of Bangladesh allocate a substantial sum of money towards purchasing commercial minerals and probiotics to improve the growth and maintenance of their farms. The combined use of probiotics and minerals may result in a synergistic impact on the absorption and digestion of nutrients, stimulation of the immune system and overall management of diseases. Hence, the objective of this project is to reduce the cost associated with shrimp farming through the efficient management of mineral and probiotic dosages in a synergistic manner, thereby enhancing the overall prosperity, well-being, and sustainability of shrimp farming. The project's final outcomes will yield substantial economic advantages for shrimp farmers, stakeholders, researchers, and related sectors in shrimp aquaculture, aligning with the primary objective of SCMFP under Grant Window 1. The Fisheries and Marine Resources Technology Discipline (FMRT) of Khulna University is located at the heart of southwest coastal region of Bangladesh. The FMRT Discipline contains many laboratories equipped with cutting-edge facilities and technology that might serve as valuable resources for carrying out the proposed study efficiently.
