Effect Of Different Levels of Salinity on The Performance of Hydroponic Maize Fodder

The technique of growing plants without soil is known as hydroponics. It has become a practical method for producing green fodder. This approach can help prevent animal feed shortages caused by lack of arable land. Hydroponic cultivation of maize under saline conditions offers a sustainable alternative to traditional soil-based farming, which faces challenges from soil salinization and good water scarcity. This study examines the effects of saline stress on hydroponic maize production, focusing on growth parameters, physiological responses, biomass yield, and nutritional quality in a controlled environment. Maize plants were grown hydroponically for 10 days under five salinity levels: T0 (control), T1 (3 dS/m), T2 (5 dS/m), T3 (7 dS/m), and T4 (9 dS/m) and monitored for biomass weight, primary root length, plant height, chlorophyll content measurement, and proximate composition, including dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, ash, ether extract, and nitrogen-free extract analysis.
