Effect of Hybrid Age and Rearing Season on Egg Production Performance of Commercial Layers

The study was conducted at Khulna Sadar, Batiaghata and Dumuria upazila under Khulna district to study the effects of hybrid, age and rearing season of commercial layers on egg production performances. Data were collected fortnightly for the period of 12 months covering from June, 2011 to May, 2012. Nine commercial layers likes Dekalb white, ISA brown, Hisex White, BV 300, Nova White, Phoenix , Shaver Star 579 Brown, White Leghorn and Hy-Line were used for the study. The age was divided into three main groups, viz. young age (18-43wks), middle age (44-69wks), and old age (70 and above wks). Whole year was divided into three seasons like summer (March-June), monsoon (July-October) and winter (November-February). Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 11.5 in computer. The effects of hybrid on egg production percentage was significant (P<0.01) and on egg weight, feed consumption and body weight were highly significant (P<0.001).  The effects of age on egg production percentage, egg weight and weight of birds were also highly significant (P<0.001). But effect of seasons on egg production (%) was insignificant (P>0.05). The effect of three seasons on egg weight and birds weight were differed significantly (P<0.01).
