Effects of Probiotic and Enzyme Supplementation on Milk Yield, Blood Profile and Digestibility of Crossbred Dairy Cows in Southwest Bangladesh

The purpose of the proposed study is to assess how probiotic and enzyme supplementation affects the haematological profile, feed digestibility, and milk yield of crossbred dairy cows in the southwest part of Bangladesh. The country's expanding dairy industry and the need for better feed efficiency, nutritional absorption, and crossbred cattle's general health are the driving forces behind the study. Beneficial microbes called probiotics promote gut health, while exogenous enzymes boost the digestion of fiber, which may result in more milk being produced. Few studies, nevertheless, have evaluated their combined impacts in local conditions on smallholder dairy farms.

In three feeding experiments, sixteen crossbred dairy cows will be used in the study, which will be carried out in Batiaghata Upazila, Khulna District under farmer’s condition. Different supplementation options will be tested in each experiment, including (1) probiotics, (2) exogenous fibrolytic enzymes (EFE), and (3) a combination of the two. After being split up into treatment groups with different amounts of supplements, the cows will be monitored for one hundred eighty days (6 months). The study will evaluate blood profiles (e.g., immunoglobulin contents, glucose levels, etc.), reproductive parameters (e.g., services per conception, postpartum heat period, etc.), and productive factors (e.g., milk yield, lactation length, milk composition, etc.). Additionally, to ascertain feed intake and nutrient absorption, digestibility trials will be carried out. To assess quality, chemical analysis will be performed on milk samples to determine fat, protein, lactose, and minerals. SAS and SPSS software will be used for statistical analysis.

Improved milk production, increased feed digestibility, and improved dairy cow health profiles are among the anticipated results. The project will offer evidence-based suggestions for the application of probiotics and enzymes in Bangladesh's dairy industry, which could help farmers become more profitable and productive.
