Probiotics in Broiler and Layer Diets to Reduce Human Health Hazards

The study was conducted at Dr. Purnendhu Gain Field Laboratory, Agrotechnology Discipline, Khulna University, Khulna during 22nd march to 22nd may 2015. The objective of this study was to formulate of layer rations replacing antibiotics by probiotics. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different levels of antibiotics and probiotics in the ration of layer hen and to formulate of layer rations replacing antibiotics by probiotics. The design of the experiment was assigned based on RCBD. Three hundred (300) layer hen were randomly selected and divided into 5 treatment groups of 60 birds each. Each group was further subdivided into 3 replication of 20 birds each. The experimental diets were feed to Hisex White hens from 42nd week to 50th week in five different levels of antibiotics and probioticsin the diet. Experimental groups included control T0(no antibiotic/ probiotics), T1 (antibiotic @15g/100kg feed), T2 (antibiotic @25g/100kg feed), T3 (probiotic @20g/100kg feed) and T4 (probiotic @40g/100kg feed).The data of egg production, feed intake and number of death bird were taken daily and the data of egg weight were collected weekly and the data of body weight was collected in every 15 day interval.Our results showed that there were no significant differences (P>0.05) in daily feed intake but were the maximum feed intake in T0(no antibiotic/ probiotics) and the least in T4 (probiotic @40g/100kg feed).There were also no significant in egg production percentage, body weight, egg weight, mortality and feed conversion ratio. Feed cost per egg production showed significant difference among the treatments. Cost of production was observed high in T0(no antibiotic/ probiotics) and the lowest was in treatment T4 (probiotic @40g/100kg feed). There were variation among the mean differences. It can be concluded from the study that feed intake, feed conversion ratio, body weight, average egg production, average egg weight were almost similar for different treatment groups. As average feed cost showed significant difference so ration may be replacedT4 (probiotic @40g/100kg feed)for minimizing the feed cost.
