Afroza Parvin is a Professor of Architecture and Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) UK. She is the Dean of Science, Engineering and Technology School of Khulna University. Afroza completed her Bachelor of Architecture from Khulna University, and received her MSc (Urban Planning) and PhD (Urban Design) from The University of Hong Kong. She has been the recipient of Commonwealth Academic Fellowship hosted by University College London, and Fulbright Visiting Research Scholarship hosted by The University of Texas at Austin. Afroza’s research interest includes urban and rural settlement planning; disaster adaptive built environment and informal settlements; space syntax study; and context- responsive leadership, curriculum, and pedagogy in higher education. Afroza has been the Director (in charge) of Institute of Fine Arts (2009-12); Head of Architecture Discipline (2012-15); Director of Centre of Excellence in Teaching & Learning (2015- 18), and Provost of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall (2018) of Khulna University. In line with her contributions evident in the administrative, academic and research arenas of Khulna University, Afroza has got solicited involvement in more than 45 important positions and committees of Khulna University during last ten years. Member of Syndicate, Academic Council, Board of Advanced Studies, three School’s Executive Committee, Research Cell Advisory Committee; Member- Secretary of Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee are some mention-worthy positions in her portfolio. Afroza is also involved in academic, research and administrative activities of more than ten universities home and abroad. She has published 19 research papers and presented dozens of research seminars home and abroad.
