GOLAM HOSSAIN                                         It is with great pride and enthusiasm to serve as the Dean of the Life Science School, a dynamic and multi-disciplinary community that encompasses Pharmacy, Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Fisheries and Marine Resource Technology, Forestry and Wood Technology Discipline, Environmental Science Discipline and Soil, Water & Environment Discipline.As a Dean, I am honored to lead this vibrant community dedicated to advancing knowledge in the life sciences and addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing humanity at this moment. Our school fosters a spirit of inquiry and a collaborative ethos, bringing together diverse perspectives and cutting-edge research. We strive not only to expand the frontiers of scientific understanding but also to embrace emerging technologies and mentor the next generation of scientists and resource managers. The interdisciplinary nature of our work fuels transformative discoveries that tackle global challenges—including advancement of human health, sustainable food system, climate change and biodiversity loss. The Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world, lie in close proximity to our university. This unique ecosystem plays a vital role insupporting local livelihoods, regulating the climate, and conserving biodiversity. One of the founding objectives of our university was to harness the potential of coastal ecosystem like the Sundarbans for research that contribute to the well-being of humankind. Given the ecological significance of the Sundarbans and its surrounding coastal regions, all our disciplines are initiating or strengthening collaborative research—both across departments and with external partners. Our research on mangrove and coastal ecosystems has already made valuable contribution to environmental conservation, policy development, water and soil quality monitoring, and the creation of innovative solutions to ecological challenges. We remain committed to foster excellence in education, pioneering research, and impactful community engagement. We nurture an environment where curiosity and discovery thrive--preparing our students to become future leaders and change makers in their fields.Thank you for being part of this exciting journey.
